We have a long and sad history of propping up repressive regimes that will guarantee that their raw materials and national resources will continue to be given to American companies. The Almighty Dollar always trumps human rights when our government formulates its foreign policy. Basically, our government couldn't care less about the lives of others.Do OIL BOYS like brutal regimes? Is Chevron's Pipeline the Burmese Regime's Lifeline??
This is all well and good, but when you cite far-left sources we can't take them seriously. Sorry. The author of this article is against the US and oil, so we know where their bias lies. I don't need to read the article to know what it's about. At any rate, all of the 'bad stuff' contained in it is purely speculation. Connect a few dots and propose the answer. Quite simply, they don't know and you can't verify what they say is true. They may be taking simple facts out of context.

What fuels your car? Exactly how much blood must be mixed with oil in order to fuel a combustion engine? The issue is not the oil itself, it is that greedy american corporations would rather kill than compete for that oil in the global market place since that would cut into their profit margin.

The issue is that greedy american corporations would rather pay one dictator to use brutality in silencing the masses while their resources are being stolen than to have to provide enough money for those resources that the people living in those nations involved might actually be lifted out of poverty and become educated and decide to harvest their own natural resources.

The issue in not what fuels americas cars...the issue is what fuels america's greedy corporate monster.....

9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Guess people like White Feather and pfo just don't understand the political aspects of the global oil industry.

Regardless of how many people suffer and die, politicians like Rice, Cheyney and other neocons will continue to strive for political goals that meet ';American interests';.

By the way, why aren't the ';mighty'; and ';brave'; US go out to ';liberate'; Burma like they did in Iraq? Believe me, I know that the Burmese Junta is far worst than Saddam era Iraq.

Countries like China, India and Russia are to blame for what is happening in Burma. China basically runs everything in Burma to suite its needs. India purchases CNG and other raw materials from Burma. And Russia supports it for some reason.

American politicians can just masturbate about something and wait someday to *** at that thing they were masturbating about.
I love the comment when you quote far left sources.

Yes CBS, NBC, FOX they are the truth. Corporate controlled media is the truth. If you are from the far right then you speak the truth. I love the way these networks played right into Bushes hands to get us into Iraq. Yes the truth is in the far right. Antiwar.com was screaming that Bush was lying from day one. BEFORE we went into Iraq. Another one of those far left resources.

THE TRUTH IS NOT ON CORPORATE CONTROLLED MEDIA. THAT IS FOR THE LEMMINGS, THE SHEEP.

WE HAVE EXPLOITED EVERYONE IN THE WORLD FOR OUR SELF CENTERED INTERESTS. NOW WE HAVE BLOWBACK. THE CHICKENS HAVE COME HOME TO ROOST.
Modern industrial civilizations requre oil. We are utterly dependent upon it. Without it they will collapse and their citizens will starve and die.

Oil companies exist because they can obtain and market gasoline and other oil products effectively. Western civilization could not exist without oil companies.

Unfortunately, most oil seems to be found under land owned by nations we find disagreeable. Disagreeable or not we have to deal with them, and dealing is easier if the regime in power is capable of providing stability. Without it oil workers are held hostage or killed. Again, oil companies like STABILITY. How that is achieved is not that important. It is sad that many people live under tyranny, but our survival as a civilization is at stake. Every other consideration is secondary.
They like any Government who will not collect a fair value for the Oil so that the people of that country have funds to help them live after their Natural Resource is taken, stolen or destroyed.

They love corrupt government and will actually have the CIA overthrow Democratic Governements to get what they want.
And former Unocal executive Karzai is now the president of Afghanistan.

These are pretty standard examples of US foreign policy.

Big business trumps all.

This is yet another reason why I advocate non-petroleum based lubricants...
