How do I check the gear oil on a '93 honda civic, 5 speed?

Just recently possessed the car and have never checked the gear oil. Not sure if that is a real issue with performance but would like to get familiar with it.How do I check the gear oil on a '93 honda civic, 5 speed?
You'll have to get under the vehicle.

There you'll find a plug on the side of the transmission case that is similar to a drain plug. Simply remove it and the gear oil should be at the same level as the plug itself. Stick your little finger in and if oil is on your finger you should be okay. Unless you have oil on the bottom of the transmission indicating a leak, you shouldn't have a problem.

Also make sure you use the correct lubricant. I believe it takes automatic transmission fluid or 10W-30 motor oil but not gear oil.How do I check the gear oil on a '93 honda civic, 5 speed?

You just need to drain and refill with syncromesh penzoil 2 1/2 qts.
standing in front of the car it is a plug on the left down low.
