Say there both gl4Do you have have to use sycromesh specific gear oil in a manual transmission or can use you use just gear oil?
If someone is selling ';syncromesh specific'; gear oil, it is a marketing ploy. Weights %26amp; GL ratings are all that matter for transmissions. Posi-trac differentials require a ';posi-trac'; rating [it has an additive for the clutch pack].Do you have have to use sycromesh specific gear oil in a manual transmission or can use you use just gear oil?
Check with the manual. Hondas (and Acuras) use ENGINE oil.
Yes I was shocked but I checked and sure enough....

But stick to the factory recommendation.
Good Luck...
By all means use the appropriate fluid specified by the manufacture

96 nissian transmission does it take transm fluid or gear oil?
i have a 95 it uses gear oil bought a 96 has transmission fluid in it is that right?96 nissian transmission does it take transm fluid or gear oil?
Depends on the make of the transmission. Usually automatic transmissions take transmission fluid. Manual transmission takes gear oil. There are cases where a manual transmission can take an automatic transmission fluid. Call your local Nissan dealer and ask what fluid should be used. More than likely it is gear oil.96 nissian transmission does it take transm fluid or gear oil?
I'm not sure that the answers you have gotten so far have adequately answered your question.
If your old vehicle had a manual, gear-shift transmission in it, it required *GEAR OIL* for lubrication.
If your *Newer* vehicle has an *automatic transmission*, it requires *AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID* for its proper operation. If the transmission is in good shape (working properly and NOT leaking fluid anywhere) it should not require any addition or change-out of the fluid until the number of miles shown on the odometer are that which the manufacturer of the automobile recommends a change of the automatic transmission fluid.
*YOU* should, however, check the *level* of the automatic transmission oil fluid in your vehicle -- following the instructions in the owners' manual -- even if you can't notice any loss by oil-spotting on driveways, etc.
Manual transmission = gear oil.
Automatic transmission = transmission fluid.
Some transmissions require special types of fluid, so it's best to consult your owner's manual.
Yes transmission fluid and either check the owners manual for the recommended transmission fluid type or call dealership.
transmission oil, hence, transmission.

i replaced the gear oil in both axles of my F-350, only took about 30 minutes to do. so if you have it done by a shop they shouldn't charge more than 1 hour of labor. labor charges are anywhere from $45 an hour to $85 an hour, depending on where you are. the oil and gaskets all together came to about $35.
hope this gives you an estimate. How much does it cost to replace the gear oil?
if you do it your self about 拢20 garage doing it for you about 拢50bloom-

Adding Gear Oil to Differential Housing on My Dodge Ram?
On the outside of the differential housing on my Dodge Ram, there is a rubber boot with what looks like a plug in the middle. Is that in fact a plug, and does it have to be removed before adding the gear oil? If so, how do I remove it? Thanks!Adding Gear Oil to Differential Housing on My Dodge Ram?
Wipe off the area around it then pry it out with a flathead screwdriver and fill with gear lube until it runs out then replace plug.Adding Gear Oil to Differential Housing on My Dodge Ram?
yes that has to be removed before you can add to it,then all you do is fill it up to the point that it starts to come out,and that's it its full replace the plug and its done a very simple job to do,good luck on it.
