I bought bel-ray 80w 90 gear oil will that work in a cr125r 2002?

That's not actually intended for your app.

Though it'll work fine.

The Single weight Belray Gear Oil is better for 2 stroke gearboxes,,,75weight

The 85w-90 is a hypoid gear lube with extra EP additives.

It's roughly equal to about ';30w-50 Motor Oil';

The Straight 75 gear oil is approx eqivalent

of ';10w-30 Motor Oil';

The heavy stuff is not necessary in your CR's box,,,and MIGHT%26gt;MAYBE cause a bit of clutch drag particularly when cold.

The trans will shift better and transfer a bit more power with the Lighter Oil,,,,and clutch's overall operation is usually better.

......................................鈥?br>

Most all Jap boxes are designed with using Engine Oil in mind,,,and 20w40 is a common specification.

20w50 acts about the same

10w30 or 10w40 offers a slight improvement in clutch%26amp;shifting characteristics with no discernable difference in wear or load capacity

Straight Weight motors oils of 20 or 30,,,and even 40 weight are OK.

Above 40 weight there's risk of the drag penalty upon both clutch action and shift quality...except in extremely high temps such as desert racing in 100*++ weather.

But,,motor oil is motor oil.

It's made for motors.

I don't use it in transmissions ,primary drives,or clutches.

ATF,automatic transmission fluid is what I prefer.

It's made for Gears,,and Clutches,,and roller and ball bearings,,,and Higher Temps and heavier metal-to-metal loads.

Traditionally,,ATF was formulated with highest performance lubes known.

Since the ban on whaling,, modern synthetic ATF's have surpassed the performance of even the old whale-oil blends.

I always found it Odd,,the consumer resistance to using Transmission Fluid in Transmissions.

Engine Oils with their ';3~5,000 mile'; recco'd change interval,,vs ATF which usually NEVER gets changed and lives nicely in an environment which would destroy an engine in Minutes,,,or at least wear it out in a few hours.

Anyway,,,Yes,,Belray 80w-90 will do OK even if not Ideal choice.

Worst-Case is the POSSIBILITY of a bit erratic clutch action compared to what You're used to.

You may notice No Difference at all.

Hope that helps

EDIT:

Here's what BelRay says about it

';';';Bel-Ray Gear Saver Motorcycle Transmission Oil

When it comes to ultimate transmission and

clutch protection, nothing beats Bel-Ray Gear

Saver. Extreme Pressure (EP) additives absorb

the heaviest shock loads that regular motor oils

just can't handle. Ultrahigh film strength eliminates

metal-to-metal contact for less friction,

wear and heat. It won't foam or break down.

Application: For 2-stroke and other engines with separate crankcase and

transmission. Replaces standard motor oils to provide better lubrication,

smoother shifting and increased clutch life.

Available in 1 liter bottles. SAE 75W, 80W and 85W. GL4

Bel-Ray Gear Saver Hypoid Gear Oil

Unsurpassed protection for heavily loaded transmissions and final drive

units (rear ends and shaft drives) including limited slip differentials.

Extreme Pressure (EP) chemistry provides unmatched protection while

preventing friction, wear and heat for quieter and smoother operation.

Exceeds API Specification GL-5.

Available in 1 liter bottles. SAE 90, 80W-90 and 85W-140. GL5

FAQ with Sir Tech

Question: My owner鈥檚

manual recommends

10W-40 motor oil for

the gear box in my

RM125 but you advise

Gear Saver 80W. Isn鈥檛 that too thick?

Answer: Motor oil viscosity ratings and gear

oil viscosity ratings are two different things.

Since Gear Saver is a gear oil and specifically

designed for your transmission and clutch, it

has the gear oil grade designation of SAE

80W. The closest gear oil grade to 10W-40

motor oil is 80W gear oil. So you are correct

in using Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80W in your gearbox.

This exclusive formula will hold up to the

nasty shearing action of the transmission

gears and keep your clutch action consistent,

even under the most nervous clutch finger.';';';';';I bought bel-ray 80w 90 gear oil will that work in a cr125r 2002?
DO NOT use 80w90 gear oil in a cr125.

Never use gear oil in the crankcase of any motorcycle.

It's like glue.

Use what the manufacturer suggests.

Quality, brand name 4 stroke motor oil 10w40 or 20w50I bought bel-ray 80w 90 gear oil will that work in a cr125r 2002?
yes that i very good gear lube but expensive that is what i run in my banshee and two dirt bike
