Put it in until it starts to run out of the filled hole. You can't over fill it.Have a 97 mustang cobra, doing differential gear oil change, how much gear oil do i need?
Usually two of the pint containers, I think. But the fill plug is at the correct fill level. Put in a bottle, then see if you can feel the oil thru the hole. If not, put in another, until it either drips out the hole or you can just feel it thru the hole. There's also a 'friction modifier' that goes in with the oil, if you still have the factory differential.
