What type of gear oil does my 2002 ford explorer use?

You should use 75w-90 on the front axle and 75w-140 on the rear axle if you have had any ';whine/hum during acceleration, deceleration, and/or cruise.'; If not, just use 75w-90 on both.

NOTE: When servicing the rear axle on these vehicles, replace the 75w-90 gear oil with 75W-140.';What type of gear oil does my 2002 ford explorer use?
front use 75w-90. rear use 75w-140 no matter if you hear noise or not, ford discontinued use of 75w-90 fehp oil due to wear problems, if it has traction lock in the rear (notated by an L on the axle tag between the gear ratio numbers, you can only see ';L55'; or ';L73'; the first digit is blocked by the cover bolt) you'll need to use XL3 additive. don't get any xl3 on you because is stinks to high heaven and it won't wash out. Good luckWhat type of gear oil does my 2002 ford explorer use?
