DO NOT JUST USE ANY GL-5 OIL IN THE AX-15!
GL-3 is the correct oil - as specified in the Factory Service Manuals. The 97 FSM stated GL-5 but that was a typo.
Redline MTL or MT90 and Royal Purple Synchromax are generally regarded as the best oils for the AX-15.
GL-5 oils can contain sulphur based additives. These slowly eat away at the brass sycronisers in the gearbox and result in difficult shifting.
Some GL-5 oils do not contain sulphur. But they need to be fully synthetic and probably won't say on the container if they have sulphurus additives.
