What is the difference between motor oil and gear oil?

';gear'; oil or 'transmission' oil is usually individual for different makes of vehicles. Always use the one recommended in the Owner's manual. It should be changed every 75,000 kilometers


Motor oil is for the engine - different type of oil altogether and has a viscosity specifically for engines.. Motor oil should be changed every 5,000 kilometers for regular oil and about 8,000 - 10,000 kilometers for synthetic oil.
