Does a Toyota Camry 1997 automatic model require a gear oil check? And if yes, how often?

All Camry automatics have ATF in the differentials. The oil in the differential in the 4 cyllinder is separated from the transmission and has to be checked separately from underneath. It should be drained and refilled every 30,000 miles. I probably wouldn't worry too much about checking the level more than every 10,000 miles unless I saw a leak out of an axle seal.

The V-6 differential is connected to the transmission and does not have a functioning separate level check. You check it with the transmission ( every oil change) and change it with the trans every 30,000 miles.

Hope this helps.

%26gt;AUTOMATIC%26lt; no gear oil,- Automatic transmission fluid YES...it should be changed at leas evey 30,000 miles... as well as the filter...

GEAR OIL is used inside of MANUEL transmissions and most don't need to be checked...
Transmission fluid. Should be checked every oil change, and flushed every 60,000 miles.
